Remember, the table is interactive – it responds to the number of clicks, so the most popular iPhone plan will always be at the top. But, take care to check the other deals as the best seller isn’t always the best value (again, no need for you to spend ages working out the best value deal – we have done it for you, and this will always be the second deal in the table).

Things we look for include:

Handset cost – this one can be deceiving. You may think it is better value to pay £50 upfront instead of £150, but there are many other factors to consider. Over a 24 month contract, every £5 increase in the monthly fee will add up to £120 - quickly rendering that £100 initial saving useless!

Monthly cost – this is the main cost of any iPhone. Never mind the upfront cost. All iPhone contracts are 24 months. Ok, that’s not entirely true. All good value iPhone deals are for 24 months. They like to lock you in so you get a better deal in return for signing up for 2 years instead of 1. This means that the difference between a £30/month and a £45/month contract is (£15 x 24 months) a massive £360.

Inclusive minutes/sms – this factor can make the difference between you paying only your monthly fee, or an additional fee for calls and text messages. We check the cost breakdown for calls to other mobiles, landlines, premium numbers and sms messages to other networks to work out just what you get for your inclusive minutes. Some call costs are very high, so a £30/month iPhone might look attractive, until you realise that you only get 100 minutes of calls and 50 sms included and your actual monthly cost will be more like double the contract fee once you go over your deal allowances.

Data – the most important for most iPhone users. If you aren’t interested in the data allowance, you probably don’t need an iPhone. We ensure our iPhone deals offer the best data plans possible, with no fees for exceeding data allowances. At up to £1 per MB this is where other iPhone contracts will rip you off.

Other considerations

One more thing to consider before you buy. Network coverage. Make sure you check your postcode has good coverage for your chosen network.
