Restore iPhone 4 Error 1013 and 1611 – The Fix

1

If you have ever used TinyUmbrella on your PC or have 1 jailbroken iPhone and a standard iPhone and you attempt to update the standard iPhone’s software using iTunes you will get the dreaded 1013 or 1611 error and your iPhone will be stuck in a loop, unable to start. If this happens to you, here is the fix for the iPhone 4 error 1013 and 1611.

On Windows:

Close iTunes, but you can keep your iPhone connected to your PC.

Open a Command Prompt by right clicking on it in the Start Menu and selecting “Run As Adminstrator”. Then type in: CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC NOTEPAD HOSTS

Comment out or delete the lines that mention gs.apple.com, there may be 2 lines listed, save the file, and exit Notepad.

From the command prompt, run: ipconfig /flushdns nbtstate -R  (Note: This may not work, no problems) More >

Is this the best iPhone deal ever?

1

After checking out virtually every iPhone deal available in the UK, we were disappointed to find there was no ‘special’ iPhone deals being offered. Yes, you can get the free PS3 or whatever by signing up to a ridiculously expensive iPhone deal that lasts for 17 years or something, but where are the super offers? The ones you hear rumours about, the ones you can only get if you go to the right store on the right day and have the right codeword – you know, the iPhone deal ‘that’ guy at the pub has but can’t tell you how.

Well, we found it.

What follows is THE BEST iPHONE DEAL available on the UK market today, but it’s available only until 31st March.

This is an exclusive deal to iphonefan.co.uk – yes, it seems we are able to pull some strings More >

4.2.1 Untethered Jailbreak, hmmm

0

OK, so sometimes we get it wrong. But let’s not worry too much about that because so far I have managed to successfully jailbreak 6 iPhones running OS 4.2.1 and they all restart just fine. So the untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak was released and it does work. Sorry for the mix up…

There are plenty of guides to jailbreak your iPhone or other iDevice using Greenpois0n so I won’t make a full on how-to guide here, but I will give you a small bit of advice and that is; when you run the greenpois0n software the first thing it tells you to do is to put your iPhone into DFU mode, and gives you instructions on how. This thoroughly messed up one of my attempts and I managed to somehow brick one iPhone that needed to be restored in iTunes before I could More >

An iTunes Revolution

If you visit the Apple homepage today you will find yourself faced with a simple but strong message from Apple that something major is about to happen with iTunes.

iTunes has developed over time from a simple storage centre for music tracks, to a multimedia hub complete with store access, multiple iPhone, iPod, and Apple TV support and recently as a streaming device to all iGadgets within wifi range.

Although many itunes features are annoying, and the system is quite buggy in comparison to other free music management software, iTunes remains the number one choice for Apple iGadget users.

Apple usually reserve the big iTunes upgrades for iPhone releases, but as we are part way through the iPhone update cycle we need to think beyond the iPhone, to the iPad, Apple TV, or Macbook Air to see why iTunes is More >

Apple TV

Apple TV Arrived

0

So I just got my hands on a shiny new (and tiny!) free Apple TV. I didn’t have the old version as, frankly, it was blody expensive and did no more than all of my other home entertainment centre gadgets already did.

The new Apple TV though, is super cheap. At just $130 or £99 it is in nearly everyone’s budget – and what a great move by Apple to release it at this price. For the cost of two months on my iPhone plan I now have a new gadget that works with my iPhone, PC, HDTV, DVD system, PS3, and home cinema!

It’s simple to set up if you do things standardly, but that’s not me. I had to get a couple of extra splitters so my Apple TV is permanently plugged into all of my gadgets (yes, even the PS3 – with a bit of trickery!). More >
