Getting a Good iPhone 4s Deal
0Now the initial iPhone 4s frenzy is dying down, if you haven’t already found a good iPhone deal you will probably be one of the thousands of people sitting on fence trying to figure out if the upgrade is worth it.
So, what are the options?
1. Sell your iPhone 4 on eBay, and pay off your current contract so you can take a new iPhone 4S deal.
This is actually a pretty good option. If you have 12 months or less left on your iPhone contract, you could pay it off for around £500. Coincidentally, iPhone 4′s are selling on eBay for around £500, so you shouldn’t lose anything. You’re likely to get even more if you can jailbreak your iPhone first, unlock it, and add a heap of premium Apps such as tomtom before selling it. All More >
Fraud on Freebiejeebies and Kudos – ruining the scene
0Recent fraudulent activity on freebiejeebies and kudos network is making it harder than ever for legitimate users to get a free iPhone. There has always been fraud for as long as I can recall, but this time it is getting serious and has led to the unfortunate removal of some popular free offers.
Since the decline of the Lovefilm free trial we saw a sharp decline in the number of completed offers – as much as from 10 per day down to as little as 2-3 per week.
Things improved a bit when the Homestead/Intuit free trial came along and enabled freebie hunters to try making a website in return for their offer completion.
Unfortunately, a large number of users (mostly kids) discovered that a bot can be used to open fake accounts with freebiejeebies and kudos and complete More >
@Comex says Fastra1n is a fake untethered iOS 5 Jailbreak
0Watch out kids, the internet is buzzing with a new untethered iOS 5 jailbreak called FastRa1n, but this is a confirmed scam and is unfortunately fake. While we at iphonefan.co.uk haven’t tried to use Fastra1n, the question was asked of a respected member from the iPhone DEV team, @comex, who confirmed this is fake.
A tethered iOS 5 jailbreak is available and works well, however it does rely on attaching your iPhone to your computer everytime you need to reboot it, and as iOS 5 is new, there will be Apps that aren’t compatible and cause the device to crash, so even if you don’t usually ever reboot, there is a strong chance you will if you are running iOS 5.
Untethered jailbreaks are always made available at no cost from the various teams that release these things, so the fact that this Fastra1n is only More >
iPhone 4S deals
0Now the iPhone 4S is available it is about time we reviewed the best iPhone 4S deals available in the UK.
As usual, the cheapest way to buy an iPhone 4S is to buy it outright – SIM free, no contract, straight from Apple. Then grab yourself a giffgaff SIM. Giffgaff offer unlimited data and no contract periods so you can’t really go wrong. However, we can’t all afford to buy an iPhone 4S straight out, so let’s look at a few other options:
Only Giffgaff and Three offer actual unlimited data so if you like to use the internet, or even just use Apps that use data (and they all do), these are the two providers you should look at.
The best free iPhone 4S deals are being offered by Three. For £43 a month you can get a More >
iOS5 hidden tricks and tips
0Since iOS5 was released this week, iPhone users have been discovering some great iOS5 tricks and tips that aren’t necessarily in the manual. Apple tell us there are more than 200 new features in iOS5 and I kind of like the way they don’t tell us what they all are. Here is a selection of the top iOS5 tips I’ve come across so far:
- Remove keyboard from Messages When the keyboard is visable making it hard to see the whole text message simply swipe the message down and the keyboard is hidden. And swipe up to reveal!
- Notifications Swipe down from the top to view notifications. See emails, Facebook messages, Texts… anything that notifies you!
- Reminders A great addition to the iPhone. Set it to remind you at a certain time OR at a certain location! So if you need to do something at work just set the location and it
