Limera1n – Jailbreak your iPhone 4.1 iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPod, Apple TV
1While we were waiting for 10/10/10 and the anticipated release of the Chronic Dev Team’s Greenpois0n jailbreak, the original iPhone jailbreaker George Holtz decided to come out of retirement and release his own version – called Limera1n. His reason being, ‘to make the Dev Team do the right thing’. We’re not sure what the spat is all about, but we do know that this competition is good for us iPhone users, as we will eventually have a choice of unpatchable jailbreaks to choose from.
Unlike Greenpois0n, Limera1n also jailbreaks the iPhone 3GS because it uses a different exploit. Greenpois0n uses the SHAtter exploit while Limera1n uses…well we don’t know, but something else.
So, the Chronic Dev-Team decided not to release their greenpois0n jailbreak tool just yet, perhaps so Apple will concentrate on closing the hole that Limera1n is exploiting so they can release More >
Your iPod touch can be an iPhone – says Apple
0Remember the Apple Peel device from China that turned your iPod Touch (rather clunkily) into an almost-iPhone (see the related posts after this article)? Well, according to Patently Apple, Apple have recently filed a patent to do the same, only better and more sleekishly Apple-like.
This was one of twenty seven patents filed by Apple on the same day, ten of which included similar functionalities.
With the iPod Touch selling so many units, the ability for users to make ad hoc calls by way of a wireless or plug in widget – without the need for costly data plans from mobile providers could potentially be another goldmine for Apple.
A look at the iPod Shuffle 4
0The newest iPod Shuffle (4th Generation) is hitting the shops tomorrow and looks great. With such a low starting price of $49, this great gadget is almost a disposable toy. Although I for one am very much against the unstoppable move towards the inevitable throwaway culture technology is headed towards, things do change. Technology moves on so quickly that new models are necessary on a regular basis. But is a new iPod Shuffle really needed? Does it offer anything new?
A look inside the new iPod Shuffle reveals that the only difference between this and the 2nd Gen iPod Shuffle is that the components are much smaller, allowing for the iPod itself to be small enough to be impressive, while allowing for the controls to move back to the device itself, rather than be removed to the headphones as occured with the 3rd Gen More >
iWatch – the next Apple release?
1Will Apple be releasing an iWatch in the near future? If these leaked pictures are anything to go by it looks as though an iWatch may be on the cards. As a concept, the iWatch sounds pretty cool. A miniature iPod Touch or even iPhone to wear as a watch is something I would buy.
Any other ideas what these pictures could be of? Perhaps a solar panel for charging the iPhone, or a video screen for the next iPod Shuffle?

iPod Touch 4 – The ‘almost’ iPhone
1Here we go again peeps. Shortly after the biggest Apple announcement of the year; the release of the newest iPhone, the next best announcements are hotly discussed in the Apple world; the next iPod Touch.
The iPod Touch has long been the poor man’s iPhone. It looks similar (nicer, actually!) and does pretty much everything the iPhone does bar make calls (and with the iPhone 4 antenna problems even the iPhone may struggle with that!).
So, while we are still some way from the actual iPod Touch 4 announcement in September, let’s look at what we might see.
We can safely assume that Apple have moved into the world of accessories, and I would bet a few bucks that the new iPod Touch will be redesigned to look like the iPhone 4. If the dimensions happen to allow the iPhone bumpers to be used, even better.
